Items from the Becker Farm
and Tool Museum
An Eagle Scout Project
The Roseland Historical Society and the Roseland Landmarks & Historic District Commission have jointly sponsored the Eagle Scout Service Project by Thomas M. Collins of Troop 7, Fairfield, NJ. This project identifies and catalogs various tools and implements from the Becker Collection at the Becker Center. The majority of the collection was donated by Eugene Becker. Everett Leonard and George Flammer added to the collection and arranged and identified the display over the years. The items shown in this gallery demonstrate the scope of the collection which includes farm tools, animal care, diary product production, maintenance and domestic equipment. The entirety of the collection consists of more than five hundred artifacts. The farm tools and equipment are displayed and can be viewed when the Becker Center is opened for the Annual Attic Treasure Sale and the Annual Book Sale or by special arrangement.
Tom Collins has performed a needed service to the town of Roseland by this Eagle Scout Service Project. In doing so, this informs many of the existence of the collection and it is necessary for the preservation, identification, and restoration of the entire collection. Tom's work and interest clearly has shown that young people still care to learn of the past and are committed to preserving it for the future.
